Thursday Trickles

IDK, it's the best word I could think of that starts with a T.

Where to begin.

Last Friday, was my brother in law's bachelor party. I almost got in trouble though. Every Friday I am at work til like 930 pm, because it's our busiest day of the week. Well, last friday I left around 6pm. I made the sure was full staffed and ready to go. Right after I leave I find out that the Owner is making stops at stores, and in particular my boss's stores. SO, I keep getting messages from my boss trying to find out if he's there, I'm texting and calling the AMs that are there to make sure things are up to par. I'm freakin out. For about 2 hours this goes on. Finally, he makes it there and I get a text that everything went smooth and he said the store looked great. Luckily, he was by himself and the 2 bosses that can be real dicks weren't with him. There wasn't a single complaint about my store. He asked where I was and per my order, they told him I was at a wedding. SO, ya I lied. I figured it was better to tell him that then that I left early to get shitfaced.

Which didn't even happen. We went to a nice restaurant, then the casino where we all crashed in hotel rooms. I didn't have much money, so I had an early night and ended up not getting very drunk and was sober by 130 am. I was asleep in a room by 230am. Somehow I managed to get the room to myself. THey had 3 rooms and about 15 people, but for whatever reason everyone crashed in the same room. Probably cuz that's where the cooler of hard liquor was. I slept very well. IT was okay, but a little disappointing. I have yet to go to a GREAT bachelor party. But, whatever, it was nice to get out and have a decent time.

My brother was served his warrant yesterday. Apparently it's a 500$ bond on a fleeing the scene charge. He's nervous, obviously. He's trying to get together the money before he turns himself in. He expects to do it next week. Hopefully, things work out for him. I have to keep reminding myself about my court date on August 5th. I'm hoping the fine isn't too much and that I'll be able to make payments if I don't have it on me. I've never been to court except for a speeding ticket or something and they always make you pay the full amount there. So, I dont know if it's the same way or not.

My boss is kind of annoying me lately. I feel like I can't make a single request or ask a question. She just ignores me when I do basically. Not like simple questions. But like I still don't know anything about my period bonuses. I was given a little information by the people in charge of it. The cash shortages, apparently there was some receipts missing and instead of being asked to find them they just charge me for them. The paperwork goes thru so many hands, it's kind of ridiculous that they just automatically take it out on us. Another issue is getting marketing material. I have been asking for some for like 3 weeks now. My sales have incrementally been going down over the past month and I can't do anything about it. This week has been especially bad, because there's no TV ads this week. Yet, we get a text message telling us to keep labor down. I'm starting to realize how special these people are. Not to mention she's on vacation for the 3rd time in 4 months. I like my boss but, man I just don't get it sometimes. I remember a saying or principle that i read in a poker book, that said (paraphrase) 'people are promoted to their highest level of incompetence.' Basically, if you do really good at 1 level you move up, then you move up again, until you stop being really good. You don't get demoted back down to where you excelled, but instead you stay there, continuing to be mediocre. Explains a lot.

I am not excited about schools starting. Means more work for me and this time it'll be the full experience. I need to really use the next month to get all my marketing stuff done. If I'm gonna work hard I want to really rock it out. My store does about 2400$ in school lunches every other week. Right now our weekly sales is between 7200 and 8000. If I can move that up to 8800, then add the 1200 a week for schools then it will put me in a whole new category of bonus potential, not to mention I'd get my bonus for raising sales. Assuming I ever actually get the bonus I am due. 10,000$ a week is my goal for September. I'll have a new mess of problems to deal with when I get going that well, but it'll be good problems to have.
