Another Employee Bites the Dust

I have working for me, or should I say had working for me a mother-daughter combination. The mother, tina is a full time employee and is a giant pain in the ass. However, she is respectful, and for the most part is worth the aggravation. She is however a little nutty and can't seem to adjust to new procedures and has basically become a DOmino's pizza dinosaur. Her daughter has been with Dominos for a long time and she has drove me so nuts, that the only time she gets hours is when her mom can't work and she asks her to fill in for her. I don't like her. She doesn't do a good job and basically just brings about a lot of anxiety for me whenever she works. The last few times she has worked she has had a terrible attitude as well.

So, her mom seems to be on her way out, because she just started a job at Sonic and asked me to only schedule her sundays and mondays. For the past two weeks she has been giving a day or two to her daughter. Whatever. I don't care. The other day I go in and my main MIT is complaining that once again Jen, the daughter didn't do her prep. Prep is basically the sole job of an opening manager. The dayshift never does over 2-400 dollars and so there is a lot of down time. The store is built upon the dinner rush. Dinner can be anywhere between 600 and 1500 dollars depending upon the day of the week. So, prep must be done during the day to lighten the load and not to take time away from the manager working the dinner rush. There is nothing more frustrating then phones ringing off the hook, a computer full of orders still to be made and you having to search for scissors, a bucket, and whatever product you need to open. Some things require more than one bucket to empty a whole bag, so that becomes even more of a nuisance. In order to run a great service, things have to be ready for you to succeed.

Jen has a habit of not doing the things necessary for the night shift to succeed. In fact there have been times when she has straight told the night manager that she didn't prep cuz we weren't gonna be busy. Some days do require less prep, but not a single day will require NO prep. Even the worst night shift does 2x as much then dayshift. So, The manager is complaining and says hes gonna leave a note. I decide it should be me that leaves it. I wrote probably the nicest, most respectful note I could possibly write. It basically said that I was not rebuking her and she shouldn't take offence, but I expected certain things to get done and too many times now I have had to deal with complaints about them not getting done. Could you please step up a little bit?

I wrote it with the full assumption that I'd be getting a phone call and that she would totally blow it out of proportion. Honestly, I was hoping she would quit.

Sure enough I get a call the next morning and she is pissed. She believes she shouldn't have to do that prep. I explain that I do expect my daytime managers to do it. She asks about the other times, so I tell her. She gets real defensive and makes up like the worst possible comeback she could think of to try and get the previous night manager in trouble. It's nothing at all. He left a breadstick on the end of the oven. Which ... who the fuck cares... it's seriously NOTHING. But thats how she is, she bitches about everyone every chance she gets. She has told me before that laundry wasn't done by so and so, so and so didn't mop good enough, trash was left in the store and that everyone is taking advantage of me and I needed to call a meeting, and so and so shouldn't work together anymore. I told her how she has said all of this to me. She denies all of it. "I never said that." "This shows me that you're a liar" she says to me.

"I shouldn't have to do that stuff, bryan is just lazy." So, she basically believes that the manager who does 3x as much work as she does is the lazy one and during a busy dinner rush should be the one to do his own prepwork. "You need to come cover this shift" I leave her with "Well, I'm sorry things didn't work out between us." Which was the only lie I told.

So, I find out later from the manager who came in for her, that she went on a rant how I'm two faced, my boss is two faced, everyone their is two faced and she even said her own mother is two faced. We are all full of shit. She can go work at any dominos she wants and she has more experience than all of us, so she shouldn't have to listen to any of us, especially me. We can all kiss her ass.

Thank god she is finally gone. I thought I got rid of her a couple weeks ago, but she just kept coming back. WEll, not any more. I called her mom and told her she wasn't allowed to work at my store anymore and her mom apologized for the whole thing. Hell, in the past, her own mom fired her before.

The entire family is nuts, and I will not shed a tear when Tina finally closes her chapter in Domino's.
