I had thanksgiving off this year as well as Friday after. I asked for the friday off a few weeks ago, because it's actually my wife's birthday. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Flamm! It has been nice the last couple days. We've gone out a little, stayed in teh house a little, just enjoying ourselves and family. Food is great, obviously. Of course the bad thing is I don't feel like going back to work. My car was out of the shop today with a "I think it's fixed, let me know how it does tomorrow." from the mechanic. LOL... that really makes ya confident you know. Tomorrow I deliver, so we will definitely find out, if it is indeed fixed. It has been in the shop for over a week. It should be an interesting week or two. Will we need a new car? WIll my wife take/get this job? Will my boss actually grade my tests so that I can get a promotion? Will we ever start our Ready To Go pizzas at work? WIll I make the playoffs in the Fantasy leagues? Lots of stuff going on. Also, in a month there's christmas.. .so busy busy busy.

Sweetness?
For the past week I've been working on my Training books to become Sr. Assistant Manager. I think I still have to do one more, but I finished the books I was working on tonite and did all the tests. Assuming I pass all of them and my boss actually scores them this weekend like he said, I should be getting a raise again. Well, at least thats the impression that I get from what he said today:
"Hey Ken, I'm finished with book 1 and almost with book 2."
"Cool, I'll score them this weekend and we'll get you taken care of."
Unless of course he means tossing my dead body into the river...
I've been studying a lot lately about Customer Service and Marketing. In fact I bought a book the other day, "Marketing for Dummies." I just figure if I'm going to pursue this why not just go all out with it you know? I love learning new stuff anyways. Plus, I figure if I get interviewed or talked to by the uppers, then it'll be good if I can show them how hard I've been working and how much I've learned. Maybe my ascension will be quicker.
My wife has been offered a temporary job that she seems willing to try out. The job is going to pay her cash and is a good chunk of change an hour. It'll be nice if we can get that extra income and fast forward our lives a little bit. Hopefully, though there's no repercussions for her trying to go back to work. We're still waiting on the disability and honestly it feels like a decision/ruling is never going to come. This temp job shouldn't hurt it though. It wont be full time and at most will only last a few months. Also, if for some reason she doesn't think she can do it after a little bit, there's no reason to think she has to stay. The lady that offered the job knows the situation and I've told my wife to get out if she has to. The job is supposed to start for her in December, if she does get it/take it.
My wife has been helping her mom out, because she has been having troubles of her own lately going to work. She has a zombie leg that oozes blood sometimes. It's an infection and she finally had to go to the emergency room for it and they are forcing her to get healthy. She is one of those people that just always has to be moving/producing/working and shes really stubborn. Hopefully, things get better for her, because she is still fairly young and I would hate to see her disabled.
In fantasy my teams are struggling as of late. Somehow I'm still in 1st, but I don't know if I will be tomorrow. I've only not been in 1st place this year like 1 or 2 weeks. It's been pretty sweet. But the playoffs are 2 weeks away and my team has to perform in order to finish in 1st. Good luck me. Honestly, I'm just happy that after 3 years of terrible fantasy teams my teams this year are competitive.

Another Idea for when I run my own store
I had an idea last nite. I don't know if it's possible with the corporation, but we'll see when the time comes. I was thinking that my own store could have it's own website. One of the goals of Domino's is to get involved in the community and to really reach out to the customers. So, I think website that people could go to to see new products or get on a mailing list, post feedback. They already have a dominospizza.com, which allows people to order pizza online, but it's not personal to your own store at all. It's a nationwide site that is just general information. Obviously, our site would have a link to that site and everything. But, I think a more personal site would be great. The mailing list would be great by itself, because you could set up an automated way to send out new coupons and stuff. What got me on this idea was because of the new Ready to Go pizzas we are supposed to be launching soon. I just think if on our marquee we could make like a teaser comment and then have our website link up, we could really get the word out a whole new way. Instead of having to pay people to take flyers to doors, we could post it on our site.
Like I said, i dont know if Domino's would allow it or not, but it would be a pretty inexpensive way to market your store and it's products and possibly create a new revenue stream.
I'll be keeping this one to myself too.

Bad play + Bad Luck = lose a lot.
I played careless tonite. Lost with all my high pairs and pretty much said, whatever on a few hands. lost most of it at the 25NL tables and then the rest at a double up or go broke Headsup table.

Bankroll is now 137$.
Played some full ring last nite and obviously since I'm way under rolled for 25NL, I played ABC poker. I wouldn't condone playing so under rolled to anyone. However, losing the 100$ in my bankroll wouldn't be a disaster to me and I have never had the patience or whatever it takes to beat 10NL. I figure why go into that with no confidence? So, I'm playing 2 tables of 25NL and so far doing well. Last nite, the only hand that stuck out was a hand where I flopped a set, 3 card flush hit on turn and I rivered my full house. The guy played it terrible. He slowplayed the turn even though I bet into him, with a pretty good understanding he might have the flush, once the full house hit on the river I bet half my stack and he pushed, silly slowplayer. Full ring is kind of boring, but it's supposed to be a lot less variance than 6 max. I felt pretty good at the tables. ABC poker is plenty profitable especially at the lower limits. Making moves really isn't necessary, to win at poker. I'm sure the higher you go makes it more necessary, only because you run into players who can actually pick up on things, but for now, I think i'll be alright. Of course I'm just a bad luck stretch from going broke, but I never said I was going to play cautious. No point in making any plans right now, the goal is just to get up to where I can be comfortable playing 6 max. 10-15 buy ins should be good.

OMG a day off....
After 10 straight days of work I had a day off... it's amazing. I kept wondering though when I was supposed to go in. I definitely felt fatigued the last few days of work and no surprise really. I've been working so much. Oddly enough, I was off today (friday) and I'm off saturday. I work sunday, but then I'm off MOnday and Tuesday. It'll be like a mini vacation. I wont know what to do with myself.
I spent today catching up on all my shows. A little Heroes, a little Kitchen Nightmares, Survivor Gabon, I think that's it. I still need to watch CSI, I've only seen the season premiere. House takes forever to get uploaded on to Hulu or Fox.com. I'm like 2 weeks behind on that. I miss my DVR.
WHat sucks is that I'm pretty much gonna get stuck with Nights and weekends at my job now. 2 of the other managers only want to work Days and the Boss only wants weekdays. I did get the training guide for Sr Assistant Manager though, so I can start working on that at least.
Tomorrow My brothers, my dad, and I are going to HOoters to check out the UFC fight. We're all looking forward to that Lesnar-Coutoure (sp?) fight. WHen Lesnar first came to UFC and lost his first fight I bet Ryan from Dynasty that he wouldn't win the belt for 2 years. Little did I know however, that you don't have to actually EARN a title fight. He's a ratings monster right now, so after just 2 or 3 fights they are giving him a shot. Sucks for me. So, I'm rooting for the OLD guy this weekend.

Time to look into buying a car?
More car trouble. This time it appears to be either the fuel pump or the fuel injector. I mentioned before about using a starting fluid spray inside the engine to start it. Well, I have to use that spray to start the car like every other day now. When I took it to get an oil change on Saturday, I asked them about it and they said they couldn't do anything that I should take it to a repair shop. Unfortunately, if it is the fuel pump it could cost 6-700$ to fix. A friend of my wife's is looking to sell her truck, but we are waiting on the details of it. She has to find out from her husband what they are. With my wife making some money working for her mom and our bills so low at the moment, now would be a good time to save up some money for a vehicle. Our credit is terrible, so there' no way we could get a loan. If the truck is too expensive or something's wrong with it, I'm not sure what we're gonna do. I'd rather not invest the money in my current car since it seems to be declining very quickly and it still has a passenger side door that wont open. Anytime my wife and I want to go some where together we have to use my dads truck. (which btw, he just had to put in the shop as well, but it's not really his truck it's his employers/friends so he doesn't have to pay for it at least).
So, with that in mind. I was trying to go over some numbers last nite and I don't know exactly how much work my wife is going to get, but assuming she can make about 900$ filling in over the next 2 months, I feel like we shouldn't have much trouble coming up with 1800-2000$ in 2 months. Oddly enough, it's kind of really good timing to have this problem. But, I'm not sure if that would be a good enough amount of money for a decent reliable car. Even if it's just something to get us thru a year or whatever. I have to talk to my wife about it, but I'm quite confident that I could come up with at least a 1000$ from poker over the next 2 months. I figure I could make 2-300$ a lone from rakeback. If I started with 200$, made 300$ in rakeback, that would only be 700$ in profit I would need. That's just like 10-12$ a day. I really don't think Id have a problem doing it. So, I think I'll propose that to her, and see what she says.

More Work
Next week's schedule for work has been posted and I don't have a day off til Tuesday. The last 2 weeks I've only had 1 day off and by tuesday I will have worked 11 out of 13 days. Paycheck wise it's great. But it's starting to get on my wife's nerves. We can't plan anything. Also, I've been working nights and she's been helping her mom whose having some physical problems at the Daycare that we both used to work at. So we have hardly been seeing each other lately.
I feel like I'm being used a little at work. I don't think it's really intentional, but I've always had kind of a "schedule me for whenever" attitude towards my boss when she would ask, but now I'm starting to feel like I deserve to kind of pick my own days you know. I've earned the right to have a say in the scheduling at least. Next week for some reason I'm only scheduled for 34 hours. Usually I'm scheduled for at least 37-38 and end up working overtime. But, I asked for Saturday off and we have someone who was working 1 or 2 days a week at our store going to full time. She has been there longer than I have, but I've been full time the entire time, so I think I deserve to have more hours than she does. She's schedule for 39 hours this upcoming week at our store. She was working between two stores and pulled in 18 hours of overtime the last 2 weeks. That's kind of ridiculous. Especially for a company that supposedly hates giving overtime. I'm sure if I have to I can get some hours from another worker. NO one there likes to work it seems. But, I don't feel like I should have to do that myself. Idk, maybe I'm reading too much into it or my boss is just inept at scheduling.
The store manager is still in the hospital as far as I know, which is why the overtime has been flying around. Also, I'm thinking that with what we are about to introduce more inside hours are gonna be given out, so I'm not too worried about the lack of hours. I still will need my days off though. At some point I'll say something. We have a little caesars by our store and they have a "hot n ready" large 1 topping pizza for 5%. Basically you can walk in and walk right out with a pizza. Well, I don't know about lately but when it was first introduced it was booming. So, our management decided we would introduce our own version of that. So we are about to begin having a 6$ "Ready to Go Dominator" X-large 1 topping pizza. But, the problem is no one is really letting us know the plan with it and no one seems to know what to expect from it. So, I'm afraid the first week of it, we are going to be incredibly understaffed if it does blow up and work is gonna be extremely frustrating. Our store's main problem, in my opinion is that when we are busy, we dont have the staff to handle it. So, that passes along to the customers. You piss off a customer enough times and guess what they no longer call your store. So, hopefully by introducing this we can get fully staffed and business will pick up a lot. We shall see I guess.
I feel like I'm being used a little at work. I don't think it's really intentional, but I've always had kind of a "schedule me for whenever" attitude towards my boss when she would ask, but now I'm starting to feel like I deserve to kind of pick my own days you know. I've earned the right to have a say in the scheduling at least. Next week for some reason I'm only scheduled for 34 hours. Usually I'm scheduled for at least 37-38 and end up working overtime. But, I asked for Saturday off and we have someone who was working 1 or 2 days a week at our store going to full time. She has been there longer than I have, but I've been full time the entire time, so I think I deserve to have more hours than she does. She's schedule for 39 hours this upcoming week at our store. She was working between two stores and pulled in 18 hours of overtime the last 2 weeks. That's kind of ridiculous. Especially for a company that supposedly hates giving overtime. All work and No play makes Jason...
not post on his blog very often.
Seriously, pretty much nothing but work going on lately. For Halloween while all the cool people were out drinking and having fun I was... babysitting my brother's son, while he went out drinking and partying. I'm so lame. Times like that make me wish I had friends, but then I remember how much I despise people the non holidays of the year and I feel better. Okay, I dont despise people. Honestly I dont know why I choose to not make friends or seek a social life. I feel content with my family as my only friends. I could definitely make more friends. I'm a good guy and I think I do well in social circles. I just feel like with friends comes like upkeep... you know like you have to work on relationships and you have to go thru drama and bullshit sometimes. You have a responsibility to kind of be there for them. Maybe I'm too selfish to have too many friends. I don't know. It's certainly not arrogance. I dont think I'm better than anyone. I haven't been hurt in the past by like a friend dying or betraying me or anything like that, so pretty sure it's not that. Growing up it was just me and my brothers really. In high school I had like 3 friends my freshman year, but then transferred schools and didn't really have any friends. I mean sure, there were people I associated with during school. But I didn't like go to parties or call anyone. I had a girlfriend that I talked to that was it.
But, times when you feel like partying and there is no invite in the mail, that's when I wish I had a few friends. Good thing that only happens a few times a year. My new boss is in the hospital. Late last week he went in and we were told it was something with his pancreas. Well he's still in there and I was told they dont know anymore. I was scheduled to drive 3 days last week and 3 days this week. I drove 1 day last week and was told tonite that I'll be managing now this week instead. I managed to get 5 hours of overtime last week. I've had overtime 4 weeks in a row now. They aren't supposed to be giving overtime and each week I'm told that they got yelled at for it. But, yet they keep calling me in to work. I'm not about to complain cuz come friday I'll be BAWLLLLLLIIIIIINNNNNNNN!
